West Course at The Country Club of Miami
The Country Club of Miami boasts 36 holes of championship golf, where the club's most famous member, comedian Jackie Gleeson, hosted other celebrity players including Bob Hope and Bing Cosby. The golf courses, the East and West, were both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Opened in 1961, Arnold Palmer served as the club's first golf professional. The West Course is much longer than the East Course, stretching to over 7,000 yards from the back tees. This challenging course is where Jack Nicklaus played his first professional tournament. The rolling greens can be quite difficult but they are nicely balanced by generous fairways. Numerous sand bunkers lurk treacherously throughout the course and water comes into play on a few holes. Accuracy is essential for doing well on the course.
