Carved from forests of towering oaks and pines, Old Corkscrew Golf Club exhibits all of the superior characteristics that define Nicklaus Signature courses. The absence of houses around the golf course adds to the secluded and peaceful feel that is provided by the dense thickets of trees that surround it. Jack Nicklaus himself was a prominent presence throughout every phase of the course's construction, incorporating well balanced holes that vary in direction, look, and feel. Proper club selection will be greatly rewarded on this golf course. The fast-paced, undulating greens sit up to 20 feet above the lush, rolling fairways, which can create some tricky pin placements if you're not careful. Old Corkscrew Golf Club's fairways are rather generous, but they are framed by carefully sculpted bunkers. Several large ponds come into play on nearly every hole and there are also numerous sand traps strategically placed along the greensides.

this is by far and away the worst course I have ever played. The designer clearly has an iq lower than his shoe size. The greens are ridiculous and unputtable. I would characterize the design as a man let loose with a bulldozer on a swamp. Seven greens looked like he had buried a pickup truck in the middle of the green.

STAY CLEAR THIS COURSE IS GARBAGE. I HAVE NEVER HAD LESS FUN ON A GOLF COURSE. IT IS A JOKE AND A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. EVEN MY CART CONKED OUT AND HAD TO BE RESCUED.

NO WONDER NOBODY HAS EVER BROKEN PAR.

AS WITH EVERY JACK NICKLAUS DESIGN I HAVE EVER PLAYED - ONCE SEEN NEVER TO RETURN. Don't worry though I guarantee itbwill be bankrupt within eighteen monhs

    A DISGRACE

Challenging from any tees. Demanding greens to putt--even tougher to pitch to. If you play this course on a day when the greens are at tournament speed...well, good luck.

Nice practice facilities. Generally good conditioning. Total isolation--you really have to look for signs of civilization once you're away from the clubhouse.

As of March, 2011 the clubhouse situation is a work in progress. The pro shop and (limited) food service are temporarily co-located.

Tough course if you don't play from the correct tees.

Nice location in a natural part of Florida.

Well managed - compliments to Mr. Iwinski the operations manager.

EWveryone should try this course - at least once.

Wow! I played Old Corkscrew in 2009 with a friend who is a member at my club in Michigan.

What a man-sized golf course from the tips. Well groomed and really challenging, maybe the most difficult I've ever played in my 40+ years in the game.

That said, the course offers 4 sets of tees which need to be carefully evaluated for maximum enjoyment. The "tips" should be for tour pros only.

Even a highly skilled player will have significant challenges playing the middle set of tees. The putting surfaces were lightning.

Upon my return, I will play the middle tees.

Very courtesous staff, I would recommend a round or more there if you are in SW Florida.

    Enjoy!

A foursome of us played this course back in 2008. A very beautiful layout and most challenging. We found the greens to have too much undulation and levels. Not many one or two putts...most were three or more. Read about our experience at www.GoGolfandTravel.com. I would highly recommend this course for all levels of players and especially the low handicappers. Just enjoy and don't expect a low score.
