Closer look: Atlantis Country Club makes up for length with intrigue
ATLANTIS, Fla. -- At just 6,610 yards from the back tees, Atlantis Country Club doesn't intimidate with length, but there's a lot more to this book than it initially reveals.
The golf course, which was designed by Bob Simmons, opened in 1973 but has withstood the years nicely. Some of the fairways are fairly wide, while others are narrow. Its main defense are its variety of trees, which include pines, oaks and its signature giant banyan trees.
There's also plenty of water and a creek that runs throughout the golf course. Add to that some quick, undulating greens, and you've got a pretty good test.
