Great course, but leave your driver at home.
Cool course with some interesting and challenging holes. It was in very good condition with nice fairways and greens. Rough is a bit longish and penalizing...as it should be. Nice practice area, but they charge for range balls. C'mon guys, at $50+ for a round it seems like greediness to charge for balls. Good starter, good pace of play (we were a 3-ball). The greens are VERY tough. Tiered and undulating which make for fun putts but terrible scoring. If you are not hitting it close with your approach, birdies will be nonexistent. We had 1 all day and that was on a chip-in. The 18th green is very cool and a fantastic finishing green. It's horseshoe shaped so if you hit the wrong side of the green, you have a LONG bending putt over a couple tiers that will break 20 feet or so. If the match is close it makes for an exciting finishing hole. My buddy had an impossible 60 footer that broke a good 20 feet left & downhill and he hit it close and made the 2-putt to tie the match. Fun stuff! My only gripe is it is more of a controlled shot course. Very few driving holes of you are a longish hitter. I mean you can hit driver all day if you can hit a 20 yard wide fairway at 275 yards. If not then you won't be hitting many drivers (or 2 woods in my case). That kinda takes a little fun out of it. I'm a 13 handicap and had trouble hitting the fairways. Even on good tee shots, the fairways get so narrow in the landing zones that you can end up in trouble easily. A great course for older players that play a shorter game. Longer players will be feeling a bit handcuffed. That's just a quibble as the course is meant to be a challenge and a bit of an old-school shot makers course. Great staff, ice towels from the ranger, pleasant cart guys. No nasty surprises. Play here with confidence.
Great couse
Course was in great condition, greens were in pristine condition. Would definitely go there again.
First time player at this course
Play was slow but a good overall experience. I would play here again if I found a good deal on green fees.
Well maintained and challenging
I like playing this course. The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. It has been cart path only both times I've played this course, which is my only complaint but it has been very rainy this summer so I understand the need for this.
The par 4s and 5s are not very long, but it makes up for it with the difficult multi-tier greens and many bunkers surrounding the greens. I played the green tees.
Awesome Course Paly while you can!!
This is one of the most scenic courses in Orlando. Trees, bunkers, water it has it all. It is nice to have several different tees to chose from. The areas around the green are amazing but challenginf. The staff was great and course was in perfect condition. Only negative was when we were told it would be closing in the 1st quarter of next year to become a condo community. That is a shame a this course has been years for many years and a favorite to locals and tousists alike. I'll will be back as many times as I can before it is gone!!
Overall excellent!
It was my first time playing at Grande Pines and I loved every minute of it. The course conditions were great and the staff members were very helpful and friendly. The carts came with a built in GPS which was very convenient. I was able to see how many yards to the green from anywhere on the course. So overall it was one of the finer golf clubs i've played at.
Wonderful golf experience !
The course was very well manicured and the greens were very consistent. It was a beautiful course ! The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was absolutely everything I was hoping my golf experience would be on my vacation! It's now my go to course when I return to that area !
one of best coures
if your I tourist like I am its a great lace to stop by and play some quality golf very senic course I loved it favotie hole was #10 it was one of best course ive been to I hope to play ther again
Great Course
Can't say anything bad about Grande Pines. The course has everything you are looking for in a quality round of golf. Nice practice facility, great course conditions, food was good (called in my order on the 8th hole, and it was ready at the turn). I really appreciated the ice rags. My only neg observation was the cart girl. She drives like Mario Andretti, and she is put out that we didn't buy anything (driving away in the middle of a swing). Overall loved the course and the experience, can't wait to go back. I did hear a rumor that the course may not be around much longer due to the sale of the property. I really hope this isn't the case!
Great course
The course is a stern test that will challenge all levels. Very enjoyable.
enjoyable
course was in great condition well cared staff was very friendly
A Very challenging and beautiful resort course
Try whatever possible not to get into the bunkers because they are deep and very unfriendly, even the fairway bunkers. The greens are high and so undulating. Plan for wedge shots when approaching the greens; otherwise, the ball will likely roll off the greens. That is, plan for short than long when hitting the greens.
The overall course condition is excellent with beautiful pines and layouts. The staff members are surprisingly friendly. They even have rangers cruise the course handing out cool towels. The cart is equipped with not so advanced but good enough GPS system. In addition to the occasional cool towel, the cart also has an ice cooler to cool you off in a steamy Orlando weather. This is one of my must-play courses when I am in Orlando next time.
A step above the rest
Played with my boyfriend. He says the course is in excellent condition from tee boxes to the greens. Well maintained fairways, and greens were moderately fast. All I saw was sand, sand and more sand!
Good course, hidden gem
Grande Pines is a good course, challenging but not overly difficult. (Like me, you can make it difficult!) It is wide off the tee but often narrows at the well bunkered greens. Requires sharpness with your irons. Course was in great shape despite the oppressive heat. I'll be back.
course great layout and easy access
course was great open and no real issues with shots sight lines or any major obstacles
a great round for avg golfers on vaca looking for a 6 hrs away from kids n wives
only issue was the theft of our beers from our cooler by staff when we made turn at 9th hole
went in to restroom and they took our beers from cooler...
if they didn't charge $7 a beer we would have not brought our $7 six packs
would have been nice to get those frosty ones back after round over
excellent
Staff course and pace of play always excellent. Every visit to Orlando I make sure I play here.
Good course, fair course
Upon arrival to the clubhouse the staff did a great job getting me onto the course in a smooth manner. The course was in excellent condition given that the greens had been aerated. Pace of play was good. I really enjoyed my round at Marriott's Grande Pines golf course. I will return on my next trip. Marriott golf courses rock! They are Veteran friendly.
Awesome Course Layout
This is one of the nicest courses I have played. The layout was great and you have to hit accurate shots. The bunkers were nice to hit from when I was in one. Fairways were perfect and the greens rolled true. Really enjoyed my round. I will be back.
Hate to Lose this course
From all information that I've gathered GP will close down in the future. The Orlando area will be poorer for this. This course is in great shape & is a joy to play. Given I shot almost 20 strokes more on this day than a couple of years ago but I had just as much fun. You won't find very many courses that are in this playing condition (I can only name 1-2) so I highly recommend you catch a round before the doors close.
