You get what you pay for
I played this course once before so I knew what to expect. Is it Grand Cypress or Bay Hill, absolutely not, but it was good for what I wanted, a practice round. There are no driving ranges around so I use courses like this as a way to work on my game. I had the 1st tee time and I could hit 2-3 balls on every shot and work out the kinks in my game. There are some tight fairways so it helps me work on keeping it in the short grass.
Q School
Great layout. The tee boxes could use some TLC. The fairways are a combination of Bermuda and crab grass. The greens are in good condition except for the occasional sand hill crane divot mark. Would recommend at the current prices(<20)
rough
the course is in bad condition bunkers are wasteland greens are being pecked up by cranes obviously not being sprayed ,more cost cutting .greenkeeper needs to get a grip.
We enjoyed the day
Customer service was 5 stars, everyone is always so nice. Course has its issues with weeds but honestly, very playable. Bunkers are getting the weeds creeping in but you can still play out of them. Tees are about the same, needs some TLC and obviously funds. Greens are slow but not terrible. All in all it’s a place to play with great service.
Course Maintenance
Course was wide open and often would slow us down with being in the was of our drives or second shots, tec.
Found out at check in that we were going to be charged as a four some though we only booked a twosome.
My group of players enjoys playing the East course. The greens are in reasonably good condition but slow. The course was wet, due to recent rains.
As always, the employees were very friendly and helpful.
Playable...
Checking in and getting a cart was a breeze, two very nice gentleman. On to the course, the greens are slow but are ok, just slow and grainy. Unfortunately, the fairways and rough are nothing but weeds, but again playable. If they could mow it would be much better. Bunkers are what you’d expect. Overall, it’s a place to get away and just play golf.
goatranch conditions
Take your putter out to an asphalt or cement driveway. Count the times the ball bounces left or right on a 15 foot path...then practice distance control ..vary from a nap carpet to a linoleum floor and several on closely mown lawn patch...you should have this down when you play the greens.
They have markers on all the tee areas..otherwise you could not tell them from the fairway and the fairway from the roughs. Make your group a bunker rule...you can place the ball in any area not torn up by footprints, bird tracks, or washed out cuts. Lift, clean and place to any grass suitable on the fairway, there are patches of good grass within a 3 foot range of your ball.
Imagine the worst conditioned course you have ever played...give that course a 1 to 10 and then subtract 5 to 8 and you will have this course rated for playing conditions. Enjoy your round.
One and done....will not play again
There was no grass in the fairways. They were not bare, but rather filled with weeds...no grass. The tee boxes were awful, the greens were fair, with may bare spots.
The layout is awful, and the conditions were worse.
The staff seemed friendly.
Good value Through Golfnow
Very friendly staff. Suggested that we tee off on East course as there were less people on it. Played in 2 hours and 10 minutes. Held up on last 4 holes by two threesomes. Fairways were damp but firm with little roll. Greens held good shots and were average speed and average condition.. Recommend that you try these courses.
Course upgraded
I played last year and was not impressed. This year it was a different story.
Overall conditions was decent and for the price it was a good value.
I will play it agin
Great Day Of Golf
Had a great round with my wife. We aren't great golfers, but we get buy and each had some great shots. Totally unusual, I eagled #7 - total surprise. Staff is wonderful ... Tammy at the pro shop is a wonderful lady, Keith the starter is a great guy. The east course is a little rough - but it's the time of year and you get what you pay for is my opinion.
Decent
Layout, fairways and greens were good. T Boxes and traps need work. Good course for the $
Nice layout ( East course)
Nice layout. Greens were receptive and quick a little patchy but overall they rolled pretty good Fairways were a little thin and patchy but again played ok. For under thirty bucks with a cart playing an Arnold Palmer design a person cant complain too much. Would definitely play it again. Hoping to play the south course next. Restrooms on 8 need a little tlc
