Hard to stay awake........
.....time for a nap on each tee. Soooo slow. Over a five hour round. Greens are good. Little slow but true. Fairways thin. Off fairways, very thin. Most tee boxes were good. No help on the card or cart for where the course goes. Staff friendly. Good practice area, grass to hit from.
Too slow for me
I do understand that it’s the busy golf season here in S FL, but I expected a little more of this course. The starter was a cart guy who told me no one had teed off on the west course for 10 min but we were#nd in line behind a foursome when we got there. We were a twosome, so it was destined to be slow, and we waited on every shot. For me & my husband, that is tough. Perhaps we should wait for the summer!
Start time was about 15 minutes late.
Cart had good power. Course layout good.
Return visit
Played this course last year. Great value. Great pace of play
Only wish would be better on course distance markings and a course layout on the scorecard. To help with water issues
Nice track
First time playing the course. Course was well kept, greens & fairways fine, a few tee boxes were alittlr rough but not horrible. I thought the course was a well layed out and fair course to play. Like most Florida courses there is water but only a couple of forced carrys to deal with. Would like to see better yardage markings, and for 1st timers a course map/hole layout would be great.
Would definitely play here again.
Course needs an update
Course is pretty good - similar layout to nearby courses I have played.
Greens were sanded, can't figure out why given it's the height of snowbird season and there appeared to be in decent shape. Fairways were good for the most part.
Not a lot of amenities and we got stuck behind 2 foursomes that went out on our 9:08 tee time due to a ladies tournament (it's supposedly a regular event, so not sure why things weren't planned better), so was nearly 5 hour round with a twosome. Much chaos.
It looks like they recently ripped out the GPS (rack and wiring was still in the cart with no unit), and no yardage markers other than the blue 200, white 150 and red 100, which according to my Bushnell were 10+ yards off...
I can tell it used to be nice, but appears to have been slipping for quite some time.
Not a bad deal given the time of year, but have played other courses locally I would prefer next round I am in the area.
Condition
The west course has some spots on a number of greens that are just sand. The grounds people are doing a good job of keeping the pins away from them
Other than that the course is a true test of golf.
west course
thinking golfer layout you cant just hit driver off the tee. the greens are a little slow but this is due to over seeding once the seed is mature probably abut a month or so the greens will be awesome. once again very good layout and a challenge for every level of golfer.
could be real asset
fairways need some work and greens were kind of slow but overall not a bad course. just needs some tender loving care but I would play it again. Staff outside was good as was staff inside.
Just OK
I have played this course before, many times, and like it but this time, greens were not in great shape, very sandy, and rough was so deep many balls lost and a lot of time lost looking for balls when we knew exactly where they were . I realize that is due to excessive rain we have had and it can be corrected, so when greens are back to par and rough is cut down, this is a very nice interesting course to play, it just wasnt this time.
Cut the grass please
If you play here go to the range and pick up a dozen balls to play with. Don't waste the balls you purchased here. Anything that rolls off the green or fairway is unfindable in the 8 inch rough. Greens patchy. Sand is hard and has not been raked since before the hurricane most likely.
Nice course
Not to bad for just going thru a hurricane...greens and fairways are good..the ruff very deep you will lose a ball..all in all wasn't too bad
Sad
I have played the Woodlands West before, and enjoyed it now I am very disappointed. The tee boxes were awful, many of the greens were patchy and need work, the rough is so long that many times we could not find our ball let alone hit it...This course needs work and is not worth what they charge.
What happen?
What happen to this place they rough is nothing but St Auguststin grass and giant bare patches on most greens.
This is such a great layout and is has gone so down hill. Good luck!
NEEDS WORK
I played here before, when i was in town and it was ok. Did not remember the name of course when I booked on line, wish i did, for the money the course was not worth $35. Played better course in Lauderdale for lesser,I remember the names will not go back. Played West course.
The west course is in horrible condition...tee boxes are awful...many of the greens are patchy and need work and the rough us so long you cannot find your ball let alone hit from the rough...This course needs work which is a shame as it was nice before
