Amelia River Golf Club in Amelia Island
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Amelia River Golf Club is a very pleasant place to spend a day. The course is well maintained with Bermuda fairways and rough and tifeagle greens. The staff is on the ball and the food is delicious. And planes taking off from the adjacent airport frequently push out their passengers midflight with parachutes strapped to their backs. That's not something you see every day on a golf course.
You also won't see any development on the course, letting you concentrate better on the frequent risk-reward choices provided by designer Tom Jackson. The course builds to the par-5 18th, which features a challenging approach to a skinny green framed by the Amelia River. A great end to a great course.
