Had an unbelievable round here
I was able to get out at 1:30pm after the course had their 20th anniversary golf outing on Saturday.
We literally, I kid you not, had the entire course to ourselves. Zipped around the course without a single person in front of us. I'm a 20 handicap and shot an 89 playing from their green tees. Lots of water, but most of the fairways are easy to hit. The greens are tight. Really small. I guess this is how they keep you honest.
Pristine conditions. The club itself is immaculate. I was jazzed when I saw at their bathrooms stations they actually have free gatorade, water or iced tea. It was a hot day, I loved having gatorade.
We were able to play 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours or so. Also, parts of the course face the "Florida wilderness" - you see turtles, alligators, herons, cranes, ibis, and all sorts of wildlife. We stopped our cart a few times to take pictures. I'm sure this is normal for Florida people, but as an average guy from up north, I loved all the wildlife.
I can't tell you how much it cost - I was comped the round by a member. I have no idea. I have played on private courses up north. It ranks up there with what you would expect playing at some of the nicer courses. It has everything you want in a golf round.
Definitely lives up to its name
I was lucky to be invited here for a work golf outing. This is a members only course, that if you ever get an invitation to it, you must go. Across the street from PGA national, Mirasol definitely overshadows PGA National. Mirasol offers two courses, the Sunset and Sunrise. I played at the Sunrise and it was absolutely amazing, I imagine the Sunset is just as good. The practice facilities were the best I've been on in this area, please give yourself at least an hour before tee time, so you can truly enjoy the practice facilities. The little touches all around the facilities made this an unforgettable experience. This place is really high end, the fanciest I've been on. The water dispensers, have gatorade dispensers as well, that come in very handy on a hot summer day. Also right next to the water dispensers, there's cold face towels, I mean, you can't get any fancier than this. On to the course, it was absolute perfection from tee to green. We chose to play from the Blues, which measured to be 6,850yrds. If you're not a long hitter, like me, I would recommend the green tees instead. The course overall is pretty challenging, with greens protected by bunkers, decent elevation challenges, water features, etc... Although the fairways seem quite open, you still have to drive the ball pretty straight and long, as this course will punish errant shots. Lastly, the dining facilities were just the absolute best, with great food and great drinks. This country club definitely lives up to its name.
