enjoyable sunday of golf
enjoyed a wonderful round of golf with my son on a day where the club was fairly busy we played a stress free round in 3 1/2 hours, we never felt rushed nor did we wait for the group ahead of us
the club was in good condition , the greens rolled true
Good Course - Terrible Carts
Good Course. Only about 1 in 5 carts actually work. I'm really surprised about that. We had to switch carts 3 times and ended up with one that had a broken gps.
Too many sand traps
Good course, long, too many sand traps, greens slow but true, Needs improve ments but challenging n very good value. Will definitely play here again!
Heron Bay Course ( What happened to this once beautiful course ? )
This course is not the great course it once was when it hosted the Honda Classic. The grounds have really been poorly taken care of. The staff were very inexperienced and didn't seem to care much about anything. The attendant who got our clubs and set us up at the beginning was the best person there. There is not ranger to keep the pace moving. My father and me played and they sent us out behind two foursomes that took forever on every hole. We only were able to get through 14 holes and it took 3 1/2 hours !!!! We didn't even get to finish 4 holes :( . We will not be returning to this course anytime soon. What happened to this course ?
Could be a contender. Needs a lot more care and grooming.
On course bathrooms are a disgrace.
Wasn't impressed. Greens were heavily sanded except three. Layout was good. Cart paths were ruff. Fairways weren't definitive. I wouldn't recom no to others unless they were looking for a good deal.
Slow staff, good course
The pace was poor, the group ahead had a hole empty in front of them so we went around, after 3 holes they were a hole behind us. Never saw a marshal move them along despite them having one and being able to see pace on the carts. Course was in good shape, I enjoy the layout.
Heron Bay has seen better days
The nicest part of Heron Bay is the clubhouse. After that it goes downhill. I can't believe what has happened to the condition of the course since they played the Honda Classic there.
Had a great time at heron bay, pace of play was very slow , pretty much the same layout on every hole but very challenging
Clueless starter
this is was my second or third time playing this course & I always book through golfnow. Every time I seem to have a problem with the starter cause for some reason I'm always sent out half an hour to fourtyfive minutes late from my tee time. I am not the only one that has a problem. I'm sure the starter has no clue of what his doing.he seems to be clueless.
really enjoyed the layout
I decided to book around regardless of the bad reviews this course had gotten in the past to my surprise I really enjoyed playing the course at heron bay .was grouped with three gentleman from New York and all of us agreed it was a pretty good course I would've given it more stars but on holes number 12 and 17, there's was a confusion on which way to go . We mentioned it to the club house employee and they offered there apologies and said they were going to fix it. We all so caught up with a very slow foursome and a quick call to the club house and they were quick to fix problem. Great course to play.
Very Pleased
After reading negative reviews of Heron Bay, I was hesitant to play there. But we were all very pleasantly surprised: condition of the course was good, trees and wildlife beautiful, staff friendly and helpful. Holes are laid out nicely with lots of water all around - but generally only really bad shots will put you in the water. Greens very well defended with sand traps, and there are many traps along the fairway. So you'll likely spend some time in the sand. But classifying them as waste dumps helps and it makes play quite challenging. New greens are in good shape and run true and seemed a bit slow compared with other courses. All in all, a very enjoyable round of golf!
Better Than Advertised
This is a course that all three members of our group unanimously agreed that we all enjoyed thoroughly. The course conditions were excellent, contrary to some of the negative reviews on this web page. Be prepared to play the sand because there is more of it than any other course I've played in a long time. All of the fairway bunkers are considered to be waste bunkers, and that's okay. You're not supposed to hit into them. (I'm guessing that these were originally designed as regular sand bunkers but the cost to maintain is not worth it.) The greens roll at about average speed and are not very undulating, and that's okay with me too. The aesthetics of the course are very attractive with water surrounding most of the holes, but generally not coming into play - but watch out for the alligators and pythons.
