Overall good experience
The course was in good shape, aside from many bunkers that were not tended to. The three of us stopped into the grille at the turn to get hot dogs. We waited at the counter for at least 10 minutes, and the one lady working there never even acknowledged us, didn't day "hi", or I'll be with you in a minute. She even went into the kitchen several times (still not saying a word). When she unhooked a pony keg from under the bar and headed back to the kitchen, we gave up and left.
Range Finder Needed
Come with your range finder because the course is not marked on distances. Since TPC left this course, it would be impossible to upkeep it the way it once was. Talking 100 bunkers. Because it was built for the pros, the distances need to be changed on the scorecard. Recreational golfers cant play the blues. Too long. They need a mixed tee scorecard for handicap 10-20 players. Whites are too short and blues too long. I played twilight rate so, I cant complain. It is definitely not the course it once was.
Fun course, but needs more signs
I enjoyed the course, which was in reasonable shape, although I thought the greens were excellent. But I suffered from a lack of yardage markers, which were actually on the course but had no numbers. Simple 200, 150 and 100 stakes would have gone a long way. Also, they need some direction signs - we actually played 1-9 followed by 1 & 8 before we realized our error. But good overall experience.
Needs major cosmetic help
First -the staff was very helpful and friendly
Second- the course is severely mislabeled- hole markers at tee boxes were mislabeled several times ( they never changed several tee box markers when they changed front and back nines )- several times I went the wrong way due to lack of directions
Third-there was very few yardage markers (are you 150 or 200 yards out) in the fairways
Fourth- I don"t mind bunkers but when 3/4 of them are black with vegetation growing in them it's frustrating
Five- Never played a course when last call on beverage cart was 12:45 PM {also the vending machine on back nine at my money)
Challenging Course if you don't hit a straight t shot. Sand traps laid out within range of most amateurs.
Conditions Much Improved
Hadn't played this course in awhile and was greatly impressed with the improved conditions of the teeboxes and fairways. Greens were also really nice (despite people not fixing ball marks). My only suggestion is to put out more rakes for the bunkers.
Send Help Fast
Clublink is letting this former gem deteriorate into a sorry mess. Their only possible motive has to be redevelopment into homes. Nothing else explains the complete lack of basic upkeep on a former TPC course. Please Clublink, sell this course to someone who truly cares for the game. (as well as Eagle Trace and your other SOFLO assets) Keep your business in Toronto.
good bones
This course was a little rough as stated in other reviews, but overall a good experience, even though the wind was howling. Lots of sand practice.
Golf every day
Good course little dry but will spaced great layout I enjoyed and will golf there again
Poorly maintained
Very surprised at the condition of a Marriott property course.
Pitty...
Souch a incredible lay out nice greens not so nice fairways too bad the dont put more money in keep iup the course
Too many sandtraps
Was disappointed with overall condition of course. Should have done my homework and realized that there are many many sandtraps on both sides of every fairway. Each hole is surrounded by sandtraps and an average golfer will struggle getting to the green ...it is frustrating!!
Chose another course for a more enjoyable golf experience ..they also have changed the holes around and although the score could and is accurate it does get confusing!!
Bring a beach chair and sandals!!
NEEDS SOME BASICS!
I no longer lament what this track used to be and what it is now. I was surprised that the greens and fairways were really better than expected. I won't complain about the wind because that is typically a factor whenever you play here.
What we were most disappointed with was the fact that we had no GPS and the course has NO YARDAGE MARKERS! I can't understand why the typical discs for 100, 150 & 200 yard markers aren't installed on this course. This would certainly speed up play as well. We teed off before 9:00 and when we finished, there seemed to be a good number of golfers on the course. If the ownership can put a little money into some basics, they could raise their rates and get back on the right track.
My group has played here every year since 2001 and we had the course on "probation". We will probably book this again and hope that they have made some minimal upgrades. It still has potential.
Hi Obkev222.
Thank you for taking the time to review. We apologize for not being able to fully execute our yardage markers in time for your visit. We lost our GPS (unplanned) and are working to get alternative method for golfers to gage their distances. We will have the corrected in the coming week. We hope you'll re-visit us at that time.
