Will Play Again
The course is good shape for the time of year. Does present a good challenge. Will go again and bring friends next time. Maybe get there earlier to have lunch after the match.
well maintained
The course very challenging but still user friendly.
golf
best layout in the area.cant wait to take another shot at it.
Golf
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The course was in the best shape ever since I first started playlng it six years ago on my annual golf trip to Florida.
El Diablo is a beautiful course
this was the finest course we plaayed in our twenty days of golf in Florida, including Streamsong and other $150.00 plus course. It was absolutely beautiful with fountauns throughout with red or blue water, beautiful flowers. The difficulty came from the huge amount of sand bunkers. It was beautiful and fun.
great challenge for everyone
very good course , very good condition--tee positions can make it challenging for any level golfer
Hit it Straight !
Even from the white tees this is a tight, unforgiving course.....lots of bunkers.....great visual appeal on every hole....be prepared to shoot 5 strokes or so over your handicap and go out and have a great time here......great course.
Great Value - Good Course
The Course is challenging but leaves room for minor mistakes. The tee boxes need a little attention. Overall I felt the course was in very good condition and I will play there again. Definitely worth the money and the trip from Gainesville.
A bit out of the way, but worth it
This is the second time we played El Diablo and it is a great course. We returned because the first time the pace of play was hampered by an apparent self-declared fivesome holding things up. This time it was not as bad, but we still had to contend with the slow play of the seniors/members in front of us hitting two and sometimes three balls off the tees and from drops.
This is a great course with challenges, risk reward shots, blind tee shots and plenty of chances to hit a "come back" shot. The greens were in great shape across the board and the fairways are average. The tee boxes could use some attention; alot of them are significantly crowned and get divoted up to the point where it's hard to find a decent spot to hit from.
A bit out of the way, but worth the drive.
what once might have been
the course might have been an excellent venue in times past. But, in our outing the fairways were thin and rough in poor shape. The greens were good, however we were looking forward to excellent conditions and a great time. Not worth the fee.
The money paid off
The money they said they put in the course really shows! Played this course in past and was really disappointed. But what a difference ,fairways are real grass not weeds , greens where really full and smooth. I'm really happy they are getting this place back because its a beutiful Course.
Good Course Tight Fairways
El Diablo is a very good course. The fairways are somewhat tight and some hole will challenge you if you're out of position. Greens are good, some small, so you better have a good distance. My first time playing and I will return.
Sand in the Bunkers
The sand in the bunkers was pretty difficult to hit out of if the club was placed beneath the ball as it appeared to be a "muddy" substance ......
narrow fairways
the greens were fast and true. The fairways were bare in some spots but all in all pretty good. The rough was bare spots all over
A good challenge if you ball striking is right!
This course is well worth your time, and good value for your money. it will keep you thinking for the entire round. Positioning and ball striking are key. if you shoot well here, you have have a very satisfying experience!
worth it
Course equipment is old but works good. A few areas on the course that need some TLC but for the most part it was in good condition. A Tight course with no forgiveness for errant shots. High handicap golfers bring extra balls.
Gem in the rough
Friends and I will travel up to an hour and a half to play every week. In the Tampa area that gives us access to hundreds of courses. This course is located at our outer limit. In the past year we’ve played at least 40 different courses. This one we all agree is the best. The fairways are outstanding and the greens are beautiful (maybe a tad on the slow side) and true. The fairways are just narrow enough to make it a challenging day. This is not your typical Florida flat course, the fairways are rolling and most of the greens are elevated. Above all, the place is beautiful, scenic and amazingly maintained. This course is going to the top of our power rotation. Worth the drive.
Very enjoyable, would play more if it were closer
El Diablo is an hour away, but the courses in town where I'm at are pretty horrible, so I do occasionally travel to play. If this course were 20 minutes away I would play 1-2 times a month easy. Their rack rates have gone back up after putting a bunch of money into the place, and I wouldn't pay full price ($45 I believe) but only because the full cost for me with travel just doesn't justify it. It's almost worth that to play otherwise. The course layout is not boring, and the greens for the most part are pretty interesting as well. They don't play super fast and aren't pristine, but pretty decent and consistent. Clubhouse isn't exactly sprawling, but has what most would need. The dining area is modest but also clean. Staff is friendly, and I must say I had a very well made sandwich before I left, better than I expected for $6.
diverse holes - elevation changes -
enjoyed the round - very friendly staff - good food - great value - will play there again - pace of play was excellent
Challenging
This course is fantastic. I will play it again. Great lay out. Just wish they had better yard markers. If your in the area play it
