Pristine and tough
I was lucky to play another SFPGA outing, this time at the North Course. I'm going to say the South Course is nicer looking than the North, especially the back nine. The North however is still pretty nice, and plays difficult. On the highest rated handicap index holes if you can't keep it in the fairway, you'll be punished like I did. The course has a lot of intricacies and being straight off the tee and hitting solid approaches is paramount, This is one of those course you have to play at least once to get a good feel for it, so you can attempt to score better the 2nd time around. Like the South, the conditions from tee to green are top notch. It must be nice to be a member of Hunters Run, with such nice courses and fancy practice facilities. This place is truly a golfer's paradise.
Hidden Gem!
There are a ton of members only type country clubs in the Palm Beach county area. I had never heard of Hunter's Run before, which is pretty surprising because this place is awesome, thus why I consider it a hidden gem. Hunter's Run is a 55+ residential community with three 18-hole golf courses, the East Course is currently going through an entire renovation. I was lucky to play the South Course through a SFPGA golf outing, and let me tell you, I did not expect to see such an awesome course. The practice facilties are the best I've seen, and I've been to a lot of fancy country clubs. The driving range has cabana type bays with lounge chairs and top tracer in each bay. The South Course was awesome, with tons of features, lots of elevation in the fairways (which is rare for Florida), lots of water (which is not rare of Florida). The course is very challenging in about half of the holes, and the other half is scorable. I give this course 11/10 stars!
